If you have arrived in Kiev for the first time, but do not know where to start your acquaintance with the capital of Ukraine, do not worry. Both the people of Kiev and experienced tourists will always advise you to visit the Hydropark first of all, because here you will find everything that an ordinary tourist needs at any time of the year, as well as spend extra time with benefit and pleasure.
On the territory of the park there are restaurants, cafes, casinos, nightclubs, as well as beaches - from children's to nudist. Do you want to spend your vacation actively? It doesn't matter, because here you can play football, volleyball, table tennis, ride a catamaran, rent a boat, and much more. Fans of testing their muscles will not refuse to look into the truly legendary open-air gym with the telling name "Kachalka". It was founded 50 years ago, and the vast majority of muscle trainers are made of scrap metal.
Getting there will not be difficult for you. Located on two islets between the Dnieper and its tributary, Hydropark is connected by two bridges to the banks of the largest river in Ukraine. From the right bank, you can even get here by metro subway along the Svyatoshinsko-Brovarskaya line of the Kiev metro subway.
Catamarans and "Kachalka" are not the only things that Hydropark can boast of. Nevertheless, lovers of excursions and educational recreation will find something to do for themselves. The best choice for them would be the Ukraine in Miniature Museum-Park, which has been functioning on the territory of the park for about fifteen years.
It is worth noting that half of its history this place was called "Kiev in miniature". And all because in the park there were only models of outstanding monuments of the Ukrainian capital: from the monument to Bohdan Khmelnitsky to Boryspil airport, from the National Bank of Ukraine to the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, etc. In a word, if you do not have time, For this reason, there is no way to visit these, without exaggeration, monumental buildings of Ukrainian history, you can see their copies reduced by 33 times. It is really worth it to see Kiev, albeit completely in full view.
The works really amaze with their perfection and accuracy. Agree, to consider such a large-scale architectural project as Independence Square on a few square meters is worth a look at this park for a while.
Particularly striking is the detail and at the same time the simplicity of the execution of models of religious structures, such as, for example, the St. George Cathedral of the Vydubitsky Monastery, the Karaite Kenasa, the Sophia Complex of Kiev, the Mikhailovsky Cathedral, etc. The spiers of the St. that you are looking at a copy, the height of a lantern!
Unforgettable impressions after visiting the park are also left by the models of the Puppet Theater, the National Philharmonic, the Paton Bridge and other, without exaggeration, perfect works.
Since 2012, the park-museum has had its current name, which is due to the location of the museum of the same name on its territory. Here you can already see the most famous Ukrainian buildings of different eras, from the Swallow's Nest in Crimea to the Olesko Castle, from Ivano-Frankivsk University to Pochaev Lavra. Literally all of Ukraine from all centuries is right before your eyes. Everything is here: the splendor of the Pechersk fortifications, and the grace of architectural monuments, and the unforgettable imperial palaces!
Simply put, you can never call the time spent in this park a waste. And this is its simplicity and sophistication.
